Geomancer (2017) amalgamates the uncanny valley, video game engines and post-human consciousness. The film forms a part of Lek’s Sinfuturist universe, beginning with his 2016 video essay Sinofuturism (1839-2046AD), which examines the global conflation of China and its diaspora with Artificial Intelligence. Part coming-of-age story, part techno-sceptical fable, the film follows an earth-orbiting satellite named Geo, who longs to become the first AI artist.
